To prepare your manuscript for submission (either as a text or PDF file) please use a standard text editor (MS Word, Open Office, rtf).

Before submitting add a note to the front page stating “This is a preprint that has been submitted to journal XXX” where applicable. Once the manuscript is accepted by a peer-reviewed journal you can update the preprint to the postprint or accepted author manuscript and change to “This is a postprint that has been peer reviewed and accepted at journal XXX.”

Please check for journal compliance and embargo periods.

Once your manuscript is ready go to the AfricArxiv submission portal.

As a first time OSF user create an OSF account or sign in with your ORCID.

To upload a manuscript, simply drag and drop the file from your desktop, and then click save to begin the upload.

Select any relevant disciplines and add as many as you feel are necessary.

If you are sharing a version of an article that has been previously published, please add the article DOI here to link them through. You can add any article keywords, the date of publication, and the abstract.

To add co-authors, please check first to see if they are existing OSF users. If not, please add them by email, and arrange the author order as needed.

As common courtesy, please make sure that all co-authors are aware of, and have agreed to, submission. They will be notified upon submission of the preprint.

Submit your paper. Articles will undergo a moderation check for compliance, and then published online within 3 to 5 working days.
