AfricArXiv was represented at the VAD conference 2022 in Freiburg, Germany, organized by the Africa Centre for Transregional Research (ACT) conference focused on the theme of African Europe, reciprocal perspectives and it addressed processes of co-production of knowledge as well as the mutual questioning of different ways. of thinking.
African Studies bring to light Africa’s languages, economy, history, demography, culture, politics, and religion. The conference brought together various players in African studies including researchers, thought leaders, publishers, artists, and more, exploring the gaps and opportunities in collaboration between Africa and Europe on knowledge co-production. AfricarXiv is contributing actively to knowledge co-production by disseminating research from African researchers globally, and also research from non-African researchers about Africa while promoting research collaboration, and access to research in African languages.
“We advocate for use and acceptance of African languages in research publications. We encourage submitting authors to add a translation of the abstract or lay summary in the African language that is relevant to the context of their work; in accordance with the Helsinki Initiative on Multilingualism in Scholarly Communication.”
